John Leightley

North Regional Director

John Leightley

My passion for shooting began over ten years ago when my wife encouraged me to find a hobby. I decided to try clay pigeon shooting at my local club - Alnwick & District Gun Club in Northumberland - and was instantly hooked.

Outside of shooting, I have a strong interest in IT and technology. I currently work as an IT Director/Consultant and have over 30 years of senior management experience, both running my own business and holding leadership roles within various organisations. A few years ago, I joined the North Region CPSA committee and have served as Treasurer for the past few years. I also took on the role of North Region ABT Manager, which aligns with my preferred shooting discipline.

Given my deep-rooted enthusiasm for both IT and shooting, I’m committed to using my experience to support the CPSA’s technological goals while also advocating for the interests of North Region members and grounds. I’m dedicated to ensuring that the voices of our regional shooters are heard and represented.

Over the coming years, I aim to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of clay-target shooting, both within the region and nationally. If you see me at a shoot, please don’t hesitate to come and say hello. I look forward to continuing to represent the CPSA, supporting its members, and helping to grow the sport across England.
