S1-S2 Parliamentary Debate

headlines

Many of you will have watched the Parliamentary debate on Monday regarding the proposed consultation to merge Section 1 and 2 licensing. It was encouraging to see strong opposition to the proposal from MPs across the chamber, particularly comments made by Mark Garnier in his capacity as Chairman of the BSSC, whom we have been working closely alongside through the British Shooting Sports Council.

The government has confirmed that a public consultation will follow, and we are focused on ensuring clay shooting is properly recognised in national conversations and that any legislative outcomes reflect public safety and the sustainability of our sport.

The CPSA remains fully engaged, up to date, and part of the collective effort addressing this issue. When the consultation is published, we will provide guidance for how to engage and ensure our members have their voices heard.
