CPSA Update: Section 1 & 2 Licensing

The CPSA is aware of the Home Office proposals regarding Section 1 and Section 2 shotgun licensing, and we are awaiting the Home Office publication of the official public consultation. We also recognise that a petition on this topic is currently circulating and would encourage all members to sign.

Do not merge section 1 & 2 regulations on firearms licenses - Petitions

Once the consultation is published and we have reviewed its contents, we will provide guidance to members on how to engage effectively with the process. We are working closely with our fellow shooting associations through the BSSC to develop a clear, evidence-based argument for why the proposed merger would not be an effective way to ensure better safety or efficacy for certificate holders, along with our recommendations to address the underlying issues.

We will continue to work with government on this critical matter for our sport, and when the time comes to take action, including any coordinated industry approach, we will advise the membership on the best way to respond. The CPSA will keep members updated as more information becomes available and as the consultation process progresses.

Please contact CPSA HQ at info@cpsa.co.uk with any questions.
