Sam Green rules the Worlds!

headlines

A warm start to the final day of the CPSA World English Sporting at E J Churchill Shooting Ground was briefly interrupted by periods of rain but the shooters took to the course with enthusiasm despite the weather conditions.

Today, we saw the final round of the World Sporting with Brandon Powell following up his superb 97 on the Red Course yesterday with a 90 on the Blue Course to score 187ex200 total and secure his place in the top six Super Final.

Sam Green maintained the top spot with his 189ex200 from earlier in the week and Phil Gray, Billy Greenwood, Mark Winser & Charles Bardou took the remaining spaces with scores of 185ex200 with no shoot-offs required.

A fantastic Super Final then took place on the OT/Sportrap 3 layout with a great crowd and even a free bar courtesy of E J Churchills.

All of the competitors scores from the main event carried through to the Super Final, so Sam Green started with a 2 shot lead over Brandon, and as per normal in a Super Final, the top score shoots last on the first stand and then the order is recalibrated again so that the lowest score shoots first on each of the 3 stands.

Twenty Five targets were thrown across 3 sporting stands with some challenging targets as you'd expect to decide a World title event.

Unfortunately, Charles Bardou didn't make it back for the Super Final so it was a 5-way competition and after a display of incredible shooting from all 5 shooters, Sam Green was crowned 2023 World English Sporting Champion in front of large crowd of appreciative spectators.

In our Team Competition, Team USA took the honours after a very consistent display of shooting across the team, securing the Overall, Open, Ladies, Juniors & Super Veteran titles.
