The 40th Olympic TRAP Home International Tournament took place at Griffin-Lloyd Shooting Ground, Llangunllo, Wales from Friday 19th - Saturday 20th of August. John Lewis and his team provided excellent targets and facilities, ensuring a successful Tournament.

The England Team were well aware that as the Tournament was being hosted by Wales, competition would be fierce, which proved to be the case. Jonathan Davis of Wales returned a fantastic score of 142/150 to take Overall High Gun, with England’s Mark Shaw and James Sole, both on 140/150.

The England Seniors team emerged the Tournament Champions, returning a combined score of 825/900, Wales finished on 810/900 to take Runner Up position and Northern Ireland were 3rd on 774/900.

Going into the second day, Caroline Povey, the England Captain, held a four target lead on 68/75 over Kirsty Barr of  Northern Ireland with a 64/75 for the Ladies competition. Caroline emerged victorious, returning a score of 132/150, with Abbey Ling of England on 129/150, ensuring that the England Ladies took 1st and 2nd place.

Michael Bovington, England’s new Junior Cap, proved worthy of his selection after winning a three way ‘shoot off’ for Junior High Gun.

Another England success came in the Veterans competition. Chris Tate took the honours after a shoot off Seamus Ryan of Ireland.

England held onto the Lady; Junior; Veteran and Super Veteran combination competition with a combined score of 525/600. Ireland took second place with 499/600 and Northern Ireland finished third with 497/600.

The England Team Manager John Offord said: “What an amazing result and achievement from the England Team, practically a clean sweep. We certainly have a great deal of strength and experience in all categories within the squad. I wish to thank each and every Team member for their commitment and hard work to achieve this wonderful success. I must also congratulate Jonathan Davis of Wales for his excellent shooting in taking Overall High Gun with a magnificent score of 142/150.”
