English Open & British Open Single Barrel

head-office

Beverley Clay Target Centre hosted the English Open Single Barrel and the British Open Single Barrel across the weekend of August 6 – 7.

74 shooters took part in the English Open Single Barrel on Saturday August 6. Paul Chaplow was the only shooter to record 100 straight to walk away with the Overall High Gun. Ian Mullarkey and Andrew Cooper both scored 99, forcing a shoot off to determine the runner-up. Andrew dropped one bird, whilst Ian shot a 25 straight to secure second place.

To put it into perspective, of the 74 entrants 50 shot a score of 90 or more.

Caroline Stanbrook took the Ladies High Gun for the second consecutive year, shooting 96 ex 100.

The British Open Single Barrel saw 71 shooters compete on Sunday August 7.

Paul Chaplow didn’t manage to repeat the previous day’s success as he dropped four shots and posted a score of 96, which was only good enough for sixth place.

The day didn’t see a maximum, but the High Gun was only one off with a score of 99/100, which was shot by Nick Adam.

The Ladies competition saw Andrea Louise Swatts go one better than last week and take the British title with a score of 94/100.

A special mention must go to the Junior winner, Joe Booth, as he won both the English and British Opens – the British with a score of 94/100 and the English with 97/100.
