British Open English Skeet Preview

head-office

The British Open English Skeet heads to Doveridge Clay Sports Centre in the East Midlands from August 12 – 14.

Suffolk-based shooter Pete Bloomfield enters the competition looking to make it a hat-trick of triumphs.

Both of Pete’s previous successes have been in the South East. Dartford Clay Shooting Club played host to his success in 2014, before it was followed up at The National Clay Shooting Centre in 2015.

He had to overcome the nerves of a shoot off in both of his victories, having recorded 100 straight scores on each occasion. Last year went to a nail biting sudden-death scenario, which saw him overcome Richard King to retain his title.

All eyes will be on Pete once again to see if he can make it three victories on the bounce when he shoots in the morning on Sunday 14 August.

Last year’s runner-up Richard will be shooting on the Saturday morning. He will be hoping to go one better than last year and take home the title.

Craig Lakey, this year’s runner-up at the English Open Skeet, shoots on Saturday afternoon at 3.40pm.

Elsewhere, last year’s Ladies winner, Joy Hirons shoots on the Sunday. Joy has dominated the Ladies category in this competition for the last three years and will be looking to take the Ladies High Gun for the fourth year in a row.

Natalie Bales has finished third and runner-up in the Ladies the last two years; she shoots on Sunday afternoon and also comes into the British Open after becoming thje first ever female champion at the English Open English Skeet this year. She will certainly be one to look out for and could also be the person to stop Joy's dominance in the Ladies category at the British Open.

Benjamin Ludford Brooks and Luke English will also lock horns in the Junior category again this year. Benjamin pipped Luke to the Junior High Gun last year and both boys shoot on Saturday this year.

Good luck to everyone shooting at the British Open English Skeet at Doveridge Clay Sports Centre. Check back after the competition for a full report and list of results.
