British Open Day 2

general

The second day of the British Open Sporting & Sportrap Championships at Eaton Hall Shooting Ground saw competitors faced with a mixture of showers and warm sunshine, creating more unpredictable conditions out on the course. Despite the changing weather, spirits remained high as one of the biggest fixtures in the CPSA calendar continued in style.

Eaton Hall has seen remarkable development over the past nine months, and competitors have been quick to praise how impressive the ground looks for this year’s championship. With its thoughtful layout, smart presentation, and attention to detail, it provides the perfect backdrop for top-class Sporting and Sportrap action.

In the Sporting, today’s high score came from Martin Myers with an impressive 107ex120, closely followed by Billy Baughan on 106 – rounding off an especially strong day for him. Over on the Sportrap, Billy also impressed with a superb 98ex100 to take the lead. As the Sportrap competition is first past the post, his score sets a strong target for the rest of the week – the question now is whether anyone will be able to catch him.

A reminder of the format for this competition:

For the British Open Sporting we have 5 qualifying days Monday – Friday. From each qualifying day, the top 4 scorers from each class AAA – C,  the top 2 scorers from the categories -  Seniors, Ladies, Veterans, Super Veterans, Juniors and Colts and the top 2 disabled shooters (1 sitting and 1 standing) will be invited to shoot the finals day on the Saturday. Shooters are pulled through in class first then category and if any ties appear they countback is used.

On the Saturday, a new 75 target course will be shot by everyone invited back to shoot the finals day with the top 6 shooters from the day going through to the Super Final. Shoot offs will determine any spaces for the Super Finals as well as any positions for class or category.
