New Year – New Name?

The new year is upon us and we are looking into the future to brighter horizons. As an association we have promoted the highest standards of excellence in every aspect of our sport, supporting our members for almost 100 years.

Looking forward, we are keen to modernise our sport's brand image in order to help attract new shooters, members, and sponsors from outside the sport. With that in mind we are proposing the membership consider to change the associations name from CPSA to the Clay Target Shooting Association or CTSA. We propose this change not to forget our heritage and history but to build on it and develop our sport for the future. There will be a cost, but this would not be an overnight change, rather a gradual, phased, managed change to Clay Target Shooting Association (CTSA). By doing so we would be joining our fellow associations in Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and around the globe in branding and promoting our sport as a clay target shooting sport. We believe this will help us attract new members, grow our sponsorship from outside the shooting business and help our image when it comes to defending our sport against anti shooting lobbying and legislation.

During the past year we have been discussing this important topic and before we issue a special resolution for the membership to vote on, we are running a survey to get a feel from our members. We will discuss the proposal further over the coming year. It is the responsibility of the CPSA to manage our sport of clay target shooting from grass roots through to international competition, and therefore we raise a simple question to you, our members:

If presented with a special resolution to change from CPSA to CTSA would you vote :  “Yes” or “No” ?
