Changes to Northern Ireland Firearms Order

general

With effect from the 30th May 2016 all residents of Great Britain who are travelling to Northern Ireland will no longer require a NI visitor shotgun permit.

This follows the enactment of the Justice Bill, which was passed on May 13. As a result of this, shooters with a shotgun certificate will be able to travel through Northern Ireland and use their shotgun whilst there, at any recognised shooting ground.

Therefore, shooters participating in the DTL Home International and British Open at Banbridge Shooting Ground on July 15 & 16 will no longer need to make an application to the PSNI.

The age restriction for clay target shooting in Northern Ireland is 16 years of age, except in the case of an authorised Clay Target Club where ages 12-16 can shoot whilst under supervision.
