EO STR & SSP Day 4

Day four of the CPSA English Open Sportrap & Super Sporting brings us to the home stretch of the competition, with just one day remaining to decide this year’s English Open champions.

Despite the less favourable weather, some outstanding scores were posted. In Sportrap, James Attwood produced a superb round of 97ex100 - the highest score of the competition so far - putting in a standout performance at a crucial stage. Richard Faulds also impressed with a strong 94ex100. Attwood has a 2023 EO STR and WOSTR title under his belt so far - will he be adding a third trophy to the mantlepiece after this week ?

Over on the Super Sporting layout, Attwood continued his excellent form with a 96ex100, matched by John Newman, who also delivered a top-class round. With Richard Bunning’s 96ex100 from Day 1, this now sets up the very real prospect of a three-way shoot-off heading into the final day.

Away from the competition layouts, the exhibitor village continues to provide plenty of interest for shooters. The Steel-shot Have-a-Go stand has proved very popular, offering competition attendees the chance to test steel shot through their own guns. At all our CPSA majors this year, shooters will have the opportunity to trial steel cartridges for themselves, guided by the experts at Eley Hawk Ltd. Give it a go at the next major and see what you think.

With everything still to play for and the possibility of a dramatic finish looming, all eyes now turn to the final day. Will we see a shoot-off to decide the Super Sporting title, or can one shooter edge ahead to claim victory outright?

Our thanks to our fantastic sponsors for their support this week: Baschieri & PellagriEley HawkSWATCOMPillaStarkey Outdoor, and Browning.
