EO STR & SSP Day 3

Day three of the CPSA English Open Sportrap & Super Sporting marked the halfway point of the competition, bringing with it a welcome change in conditions. Shooters were greeted with warm sunshine, blue skies, and significantly lighter winds - a stark contrast to the previous days.

The improved weather had a clear impact on scoring, with a noticeable rise across both disciplines as targets were far less affected by the wind.

In Sportrap, Sam Green and Charlie Faulds both set the pace with excellent scores of 95ex100, raising the bar after a challenging opening couple of days.

Over on the Super Sporting layout, Sam Green posted the highest score of the day with a strong 95ex100, closely followed by Robert Allen on 94ex100. However, Richard Bunning continues to hold the overall lead, with his 96ex100 from Day 1 still unbeaten.

Away from the competition layouts, the exhibitor village continues to provide plenty of interest for shooters. The two dedicated Have-a-Go stands are still proving popular, offering shooters the chance to trial guns and test steel shot on the Eley-hosted stand. It remains a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build confidence ahead of upcoming changes.

With scores climbing and conditions now more consistent, the competition is intensifying as we move into the second half of the event. Will the current leaders hold firm, or could these improved conditions pave the way for a late push up the leaderboard?
