EO SSP & STR Day 1
EO STR & SSP Day 1
The opening day of the CPSA English Open Sportrap & Super Sporting proved a true test of the elements, with competitors battling heavy winds and cold temperatures.
Despite the challenging conditions, both courses - set by Josh Billington and the team at Ian Coley Sporting - have received excellent feedback. Shooters have praised the targets, which are both demanding and well worthy of championship standard.
Following the success of hosting the English Open Sportrap last year, Ian Coley's team faced the challenge of elevating this year’s double-discipline event - and they have delivered. The ground has been used to its full potential, with the layout and natural topography enhancing the overall shooting experience.
In Super Sporting, Brett Winstanley, shooting in the first squad of the day, set an early benchmark with an impressive 95 ex 100. It looked set to stand as the top score until Richard Bunning, shooting in one of the final squads, edged ahead with a superb 96 ex 100.
Bunning also leads the way in Sportrap after Day 1, posting a strong 87 ex 100. Conditions have proven particularly testing on this discipline, with no shooter managing to break the 90 mark so far.
As always, we wish the very best of luck to everyone competing over the coming days. Can Richard maintain his lead, or will another challenger emerge?
