English Open Sporting Day 2

championships

The second day of the CPSA English Open English Sporting at High Lodge followed a stormy night with calmer conditions but steady rain for the first few hours, however things brightened up later on and hit the low 20's by the afternoon.

Once again Andy and his team had preprepared the ground to perfection, with the traps filled and ready for a whole new set of shooters for the second day of this fantastic competition.

Despite the more testing conditions in the morning, smiles remained on the shooters as they made their way round the ground. Nathan Skinner in AAA Class set the early standard with an impressive 112ex120 considering he shot most of his round in the rain. This was matched later in the day by Jason Allaway on 112ex120 but both John Lee and Paul Batchelor pipped them to the top score of the day with 113ex120.

In the Veterans category, Philip Thorrold and Arnie Palmer both put in a 110ex120 with Glen Moore 5 behind on 105ex120 to top the Veterans positions after 2 days and Jacob O'Loughlin put in an excellent 107ex120 to tie with Darcy McBride's score from day one, as the top score in the Juniors so far. In the Ladies category, Lucy Pitt top scored today with 99ex120 with Becky Mckenzie close behind on 97. In the Colts category, John Porter shot a superb 100ex120 to top the Colts leaderboard and the Parent & Child team event with 186ex240 with his Dad Shane - great shooting all!

Keith Foote from headline sponsors Swatcom commented that "whilst the weather has been a bit erratic today, once again the shoot has run like clockwork and it's been great to see so many shooters wearing our Active8 hearing protection".

We are grateful for the generous support of sponsors Rizzini (distributed in the UK by ASI), Eley Cartridges, Swatcom and Musto who have provided guns, cartridges, hearing protection and clothing vouchers respectively as prizes for winners along with addition to the prize fund. We are also grateful for Teague Precision Chokes support with our daily raffle prizes..
