British Open Sporting & Sportrap 2021 (Day 3)

Day 3 of the CPSA British Open English Sporting and Sportrap started slightly chilly but thankfully stayed dry all day with good shooting conditions and lots of happy shooters commenting on how much they enjoyed the courses!

Today’s Teague Raffle saw the following prize draw winners: 1^st Prize - a set of Teague Chokes - Michael Holmes, 2^nd Prize - a Gamebore goody bag - Ben King and 3rd Prize - a Musto Bag - David Jobson . 

At the start of the day Mark Winser's 113 still headed up the table but by mid afternoon Chris Broomfield and Sam Green had both matched his score and late on Graham Stirzaker & Richard Faulds both came in with huge 115's  to top the table in the qualifying rounds after three days. In the Ladies category Rebecca Clifton put in a superb 105 to lead the ladies qualifying today. Other notable scores included Juniors Dan King and Darcy McBride on 104 and 101ex120 respectively and Barney Eastman in Colts on 97ex120.

Talking of Colts, we are delighted to announce a fantastic new prize called The Bidwell Cup, generously donated by John Bidwell from High Lodge along with £500 to the top scoring Colt combined out of the 240 targets from the 2021 English Open Sporting & British Open Sporting. This will be an annual prize given at The British Open each year along with the perpetual Cup.

On the Sportrap today, we say another huge 98ex100 from Ben Hollamby in AA Class to tie with David Woolley's day one score at the top of the table so fantastic shooting again. The final squad goes out at 4pm on Saturday so any shoot-off's will be held at approx. 6pm to allow any tied competitors to finish the Sporting course.

For the English Sporting, each day the top five shooters from each class (AAA, AA, A, B, and C) and the top three from each category (Ladies, Seniors, Veterans, Juniors, Colts, and Disabled Standing and Disabled Sitting) will be invited to shoot the 75-target Final on Sunday. The top six scores from the Final will be invited to the 25-target Super Final on Sunday afternoon.

The following table shows all who have qualified each day, and are therefore invited back to shoot on Sunday for the 75 Sporting Final. Each category will have 2 squads, and each class will make up roughly 3.5 squads.
