Young Shot of the Year, Sponsored by Laporte

This category rewards the success and progress made by an outstanding young shooter over the year. The nominee must be 20 or under on 31st December 2023. Young Shots are the future of our sport, if you feel there is a budding Olympian waiting to shine, then let us know by making a nomination.

Edward Armett

I shot my first registered at my chosen discipline of DTL in 2020. Having now shot DTL for a few years. The hard work put into training to continually improve has started to pay off resulting in my best year yet. I have been close to the top of the leaderboard at many shoots and attained AA classification.

My biggest accomplishment was winning the Krieghoff 500, the only junior to ever win this event, which subsequently led to sponsorship by Krieghoff. Other achievements have been shooting 5 x 100 straight, 2 of them maximum 300s, one of these was to win the first England selection shoot and helping me to qualify as top junior for the England DTL team, I shot well enough over the selections to also be eligible for the open team. While in Ireland competing for the England team, I was top English junior at the home international and top English junior over two days combined with the British.

I was junior High gun at both the British and English single barrel, narrowly missing out on high gun at the British after a shoot off following 100 straight. I was also junior high gun at the county DTL.

Moving forward I will continue striving to be the best I can be whilst also promoting and being a good ambassador for the sport.

Charlie Faulds

Firstly, I’d like to thank everyone that nominated me this year.

The highlight of my year was winning the European Championship for Compak Sporting in the Junior category at just 15 years old. I achieved this by shooting a 188/200 over 4 days, within that shooting a 50/50. I tied for 1st in Juniors on 188 and had a shoot off in-front of and alongside the world’s best, shooting off for other titles. In the shoot off there was a tough round of 25, where I shot a 21 to finish 1 in-front of Hugo Bardou. Shortly after I managed to climb the hurdle of beating dad (Richard Faulds MBE) for the first time!

At the World ESP I was 2nd in Colts and 3rd in B class after a shoot off in the newer Super Sporting discipline. I also won Colts at the EO + BO Skeet and am No. 1 on the Colts skeet ranking, average of 96.8%. My Sporting PB rose from 94 to 97 and my average increased to 85.67 which puts me in AA class and 2nd on the Colt rankings.

Olivia Stevens

Hi my name is Olivia Stevens (country_liv_ing)

I am 18 years old & have been competing for about 2 years. I’ve been out in the field on game with my Dad since I was 6.

A family friend spotted I may have some talent and took me to see Allen Warren where my love for shooting soon became a passion and dream. I started to compete and set my goal to shoot for England! This dream came true, I also placed in top 3 juniors so qualified for the England team & European championships, home international and the British open.

After shooting several different disciplines such as sporting, skeet and Olympic skeet I tried DTL and fell in love immediately and knew that is what I wanted to compete in, around 18 months ago! In this time I have won many county championships, I have won a British title and placed in several other major competitions.

I really can’t wait to see what 2024 holds many more dreams to try and make happen !!!

Joe Turner

16 year old Clayshooter shooting several trap disciplines including Down the Line, Automatic Ball Trap and Single Barrel - currently participating in the British Shooting Talent Academy for Olympic Trap.

Scored well (2 x 100’s at one of the weekends) in the 2023 DTL selection shoot process but unfortunately, only being 15 at the time, I was not old enough to be selected to go to Southern Ireland but gained lots of experience, great memories and met some good people along the way.
