Paul Bailey

Firstly, thank you to who nominated me for this award it’s a great honour. I was fortunate enough to win the World Sportrap, second in World Sporting British Open, Gold in ESP and Sportrap. English Open Gold in both Esp and all-round and silver in the English Open Skeet in the disabled sitting class. Senior Staffordshire County Champion in Helice and OT. Thanks to the CPSA I have now become the first disabled sitting qualified shooting instructor.

I had the great honour of being voted the DSG shooter of the year by my fellow disabled shooters. We have seen some fantastic new disabled shooters this year, but we need more, so am looking forward to working with the DSG on an introduction day in 2024 to try and get more disabled people trying our great sport.

Good luck to my fellow nominees, whatever the result we will have a good night out.

Lorrie Greening

My name is Lorrie Greening and I started shooting in 2018 in my wheelchair. DTL became my chosen discipline, with the help of The Late Graham Brown. My goal was to shoot for England and as there wasn’t a Para England Team in this discipline, it meant I had to gain a place in the able-bodied Ladies England Team. It hasn’t been easy but in 2023 I gained my 2nd England cap and I proudly shot for my country in the Worlds in South Africa, the Europeans, the Home Internationals and British Open in Ireland, which was amazing.

2023 has been my GREATEST and proudest year to date! To then be recognised and nominated for the 2nd year by fellow CPSA members for Disabled Shooter of the Year, tops it off! It is a fantastic, humbling feeling and I feel so privileged to be amongst my inspiring fellow finalists.

Some of my proudest moments in 2023:

My 1st 100 straight in February

Sponsorship with Eley Hawk

South Africa World Championships

Ladies Team - WORLD BRONZE

Individual Ladies Grand Prix Winner

Individual Ladies Mackintosh - BRONZE

Ireland Europeans

European Ladies Team - SILVER

Home International Ladies Team - GOLD

British Open Ladies Team - GOLD

DTL County Ladies champion 2018 to date.

Regional DTL, SB & Double Rise Ladies Champion

English Open Disabled Sitting Champion 2021 -2023

Dougall Memorial DTL Disabled Sitting Champion 2021 - 2023

Shooting has changed and enriched my life so much! I truly love this sport and the support I have received from fellow shooters, my sponsors, my husband and coach make me want to achieve more and more!

Thank You to everyone for the nomination for Disabled Shooter of the Year and Congratulations to the other nominees, both very worthy nominees. Being nominated Three years in a row, does make me wonder, is there an award for most times nominated. It is a great privilege to be nominated AGAIN!

My Shooting Journey this year has been eventful, from blowouts on the M11 and nearly missing the first round of ESK England Team Selections to winning Disabled Sitting High Gun in the English Open Skeet, British Open Skeet, English Skeet Doubles and moving into A Class.

Cannot write this without mentioning the Disabled Shooters Group, for which I owe my start to Competitive Shooting, so to all the members that have helped and guided me, Thank you.

To my Sponsor Eriswell Lodge the support this year has been smashing, as always, every one of the team is always positive and supportive, it really is appreciated! Having a fantastic team behind you makes you stronger, Top Course Setter 😉 and my COACH Stuart Smith gets a special mention for again, believing in me before I believed in myself, helping me to achieve my goals, his support in all aspects of being a Coach is outSTANDING! #TeamEriswell.

I said this last TWO years, but it is even more true this year, I have met some truly amazing people this year, from other Disabled Shooters, Abled bodied Shooters, Ground staff and Referees and I would also like to take this opportunity to Thank you all, for all the encouragement and support this year!

Best Wishes

Ben
