James Attwood

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who nominated me for this award, and without you I wouldn’t be in this position! This has been my best year to date, and my most consistent year from start to finish.

I started the year with a great win at Orston Shooting Ground for the English Open Compak having shot 99/100. I have also shot two 100 straights at English Sporting, 100 straight at English Skeet and a 100 straight at the English Open Skeet doubles. I was runner up at the English Open Sporting with a score of 113/120.  I won the Clays Shooting Challenge Compak with a score of 195/200 and placed at the 2 other events hosted by Clays Shooting in France.

Top 10 for the World English Sporting. Top 10 for the World Fitasc in Hungary.

I finished with the highest score at the British open Sporting with a score of 116/120.

Placing No.1 in the CPSA English Sporting rankings.

Winning the World Compak on a score of 199/200 in Greece was the highlight of my year. I put every effort into all the competitions I compete in at home and abroad. Winning this has been everything I have worked for.

I have been to some amazing places over the years and got to meet some amazing people on the way and it’s been an incredible journey. To be nominated for this award is such an honour and it would be such a privilege to win this award!

"Sam Green, of Norfolk grew up as a gamekeeper’s son, and has always enjoyed country sports and country life. Sam first shot competitively at the age of 12, and with the support of his family has continued to shoot competitively ever since.

2023 has been a fantastic year, with winning the World Sporting Championship at E J Churchills, and shortly after that the British Sporting Championships at Westfields. A big thank you goes to Browning and Winchester Cartridges as my main sponsor."

This year has been a great year for me winning a World Cup in Lonato Italy, shooting the highest qualifying score of 123 then in the final shooting a world record score of 49/50 winning the gold medal.

Another high was winning a bronze medal at the World Cup Final, only the top 15 shooters in the world get invited to this event.

I'd like to thank the CPSA and everyone for nominating me for this award.
