Welcome to How to Hit Series 3!
Series 3 will cover typical English Sporting targets (simultaneous and on-report pairs) in Episodes 1-4, followed by an introduction to the fast-growing discipline of Sportrap in Episodes 5 and 6.
We are proud to have partnered with Browning Europe to bring you this series.
Episode 0: Basic Clay-Shooting Methods
In Series 3 Episode 0, CPSA Senior Coach (and CPSA 2019 Coach of the Year) Simon Arbuckle covers the basic clay-shooting methods that will be used in Series 3 episodes to tackle common English Sporting targets: Pull away (the method), swing through, and maintained lead.
Episode 1: Shooting an On-report Pair Using Two Different Methods
In Episode 1, Simon teaches us how to shoot a right-to-left blaze standard followed by a right-to-left midi chandelle using a combination of two different methods: Pull away (the Method), and Swing Through.
Episode 2: Shooting a Simultaneous Pair Using Two Different Methods
In Series 3 Episode 2, Simon demonstrates how to hit simultaneous quartering blaze and left-to-right crossing standards, using the swing-to method followed by the maintained lead method. Pay attention to how Simon uses the timing of his first shot to set himself up for success on his second shot.
Episode 3: Shooting an On-report Pair Using Two Different Methods
In Series 3 Episode 3, Simon demonstrates how to hit simultaneous left-to-right crossing standards, using the CPSA Method (Pull Away) followed by the Maintained Lead method. The distances involved in this shot make it deceptively difficult.
Episode 4: Shooting a Simultaneous Pair Using Only the CPSA Method
In Series 3 Episode 4, Simon demonstrates how to hit an on- report pair consisting of a left-to-right battue followed by a right-to-left rabbit, using the CPSA Method (Pull Away). This shot is taken from a platform, meaning the rabbit is shot from above.
Episode 5: An Introduction to Sportrap Part 1
In Series 3 Episode 5, Simon introduces us to Sportrap, the fast-growing discipline that is a cross between English Sporting and Trap (and is very similar to the international discipline of Compak and the American Five Stand).
Episode 6: An Introduction to Sportrap Part 2
In Series 3 Episode 6, Simon continues his introduction to Sportrap, by looking at how to shoot the pairs.
