Clay Shooter of the Year
(sponsored by Vario Hearables)

Nominees

Matthew Coward-Holley Cheryl Hall Mark Winser Brody Woollard Richard Faulds MBE

I’m delighted to be nominated for the Clay Shooter of the Year award. It’s been a pretty fantastic year culminating in winning Bronze at the Tokyo Olympics and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received during the year.

Over the moon to have been nominated for Clay Shooter of the year.  If anyone knows me they will know I won’t ask that you vote for me unless you want to.  This process I believe should be on merit and not on how many votes you get. I am honoured to have been selected to get on this short list with some great shooters so thank you everyone.

If my achievements below this year are worthy for this title, then I would be honoured to receive it as it has eluded me for many years.

World Sporting and Sport Trap, Essex Masters for a record 19th time.

British open Sport trap, British Compak Grand Prix and British Grand Masters Compak Ladies Champion, UK Compak and Classic Sporting and Sport Trap Ladies Champion.

Runner up at the British Open & English Open

It is an honour to be nominated for this award

After a great season it’s fantastic to be recognised in a way that rewards hard work and dedication to not only perform to the best of my ability, but also work hard to uphold and demonstrate good sportsmanship and FairPlay in a sport that is very competitive.

In 2021 I was thrilled to have won the World Sporting Championships at EJ Churchills and also to take my 4th Essex masters title. The talent grows stronger every year so to continue winning major titles is something I am very proud of and thankful for. I work hard to balance a very busy Coaching career helping others grow and achieve while still trying to remain focused on my own pathway and this year that was present in two ways at the British open sporting at EJ Churchill Swinton estate where two former students placed 1st and 2nd with myself placing 3rd respectively. We should all lead by example to work hard for our achievements while always remaining open to help others and to welcome newcomers into a sport that has given me so much in my lifetime.

It’s incredible to have been shortlisted for this award. I’ve had an amazing year, winning the British Open Sporting was the icing on the cake. I’d been working towards it for such a long time, but thought it would take many more years! I’d like to thank my family for their constant support and my sponsors Caesar Guerini and Gamebore cartridges who are integral to my success.

Being nominated as shooter of the year is a great surprise to me.

There are so many people who have had some fabulous performances in 2021 and there is now such a huge depth of talent at any major championship.

I was delighted to have been able to win the English Open Sporting, English Open FITASC, Beretta World and British Open Sportrap. To win just one of these championships would have been a great achievement and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have saved some of my best performances for these majors.

I was also pleased to have topped the English Sporting Averages with my highest ever percentage, it’s only taken me 35 years of trying!
