Ben Moorhead

Independent Director

I live in Kent and London with my wife Rachael and our guard dog, Tommy, a Norfolk terrier.

I am a solicitor in private practice in the City of London specialising in company and commercial law but also sports law and also, since 1988, I have acted for a large number of national governing bodies of sport including lottery distributors and covering a wide variety of sports.  I enjoy all small ball sports including tennis, golf and cricket.

I took up clay pigeon shooting at the age of 14, indeed it was how I learnt to shoot on the Greenfields shooting ground near Canterbury.  Subsequently I took up game shooting but gave this up over 12 years ago.  I became a member of CPSA in 2013 and an independent director of CPSA in February 2014.

I serve on a number of Boards and Trusts including Kent County Cricket Club; Regain – the national trust for sports tetraplegics; L’Arche; and The Canterbury Cathedral Trust.  I am a member of the British Association for Sport and the Law and the firm, Moorhead James LLP, is one of the 10 legal panel members for the Legal Panel Framework set up by the Sport and Recreation Alliance, UK Sport and Sport England.

I very much look forward to my role with CPSA and hope that I will be able to add value in corporate and commercial terms as well as to broaden the director-base in corporate governance terms.
