Simon Barber
Commercial Manager (email simon@cpsa.co.uk)

The CPSA has a long and fascinating history and I feel privileged to be working in such a well- established and respected sporting organisation. We have a lot to be proud of as an Association and I am keen to further develop the ‘inclusive ‘nature of the CPSA, so as to bring in young sports men and women and to maintain the growth of clay shooting. These young shooters are after all ‘the future of our sport’!
As Commercial Manager my role is to promote and ‘commercialise’ the CPSA brand, working together with the CPSA management team, staff and the regions, to further develop the organisations commercial activities and member services. The aim is to make the CPSA more visible and to increase awareness generally for clay-shooting as a sport for all to enjoy.
My background is very much one of commercial marketing across a number of industry sectors. Previous roles include subscription sales and marketing with IPC magazines, membership marketing with the Automobile Association and financial services marketing with BBC TV Licencing. I hope to bring some of the well tried and tested retention and recruitment techniques to the Association so as to build our membership base over time.
Immediately prior to joining the CPSA I worked for seven years as European Product Manager for a global company specialising in range safety and containment systems, with key account responsibility for the MOD, The Metropolitan Police, European Police and defence organisations and cadet forces across the UK. I am also a shooter and qualified small-bore and air weapons instructor, so I have a long standing involvement and interest in shooting as a sport.
The Associations image is a strong one and recent enhancements to our advertising creative and marketing collateral have helped us re-enforce the key messages and the role of the CPSA as the NGB for Clay Shooting in England. I hope to further develop this through the many developments underway with our website, PULL!, our monthly membership magazine and club and trade member communications.
From a personal perspective, I am married and live in North Hampshire, just 16 miles from CPSA HQ. I have two children (18 and 15), both of whom enjoy shooting. My hobbies include shooting, golf, painting and classic car rallies.
I continue to enjoy working with you all and look forward to developing new initiatives for the future growth and success of our Association.
