| Aim | To provide the candidate with the knowledge required to fulfil the role of Safety Officer at a shooting ground or clay target shoot. |
| Overview | During the course the participant will learn about: Personal protective equipment Shotguns, proof and cartridges Safe gun handling The safety of individuals Range safety Traps, their operation and management Planning clay target layouts Risk assessment The law, and Health and Safety The course concludes with a theory exam. |
On satisfactory completion of the theory exam the participant will be awarded the CPSA Academy 'Safety Officers' certificate and badge.
Individuals under 18 years of age will be awarded the 'Junior Safety Officers' certificate, which can be exchanged for the adult certificate when the participant reaches 18 within three years of their original course date.
