| Pre-requisites | From 2011: In order to be considered for attendance on a coaching course, at least a year must have elapsed between the Level 1 and the level 2 course or between one level 2 course and another. In addition, the candidate must have completed the two day common element (CE) course, a discipline specific coaching development workshop (CDW), maintained a coaching/instructional log book (available from the CPSA) proving at least 50 hours tuition in the last year (1:1 instruction) and have shot at least 500 registered targets in the chosen discipline prior to course attendance. |
| Aim | To develop the candidate's discipline specific coaching knowledge and skills beyond those of an instructor, and to assess these, and the experience that the candidate has gained since completing both their Instructor qualification and Common Element course, and to ensure that they are capable of improving the performance of classified shooters in both the domestic and equivalent International discipline(s) of choice. |
| Overview | The Discipline Specific course is, in reality, three optional courses: Trap, Skeet or Sporting that cover both the Domestic and International versions of each discipline. Candidates will be introduced to the knowledge and skills specific to their chosen discipline. The course concludes with a theory exam and three practical assessments covering both general and discipline specific coaching skills. |
In addition to the knowledge and skills taught in the Discipline Specific course, the candidate is expected to demonstrate that they have absorbed and practiced the knowledge and skills learned in the Common Element course.
On receiving a pass in the theory exam and a minimum of two out of the three practical assessments, the Candidate is awarded the CPSA Academy (Discipline) Coach certificate, badge and chevron.
Recommendation: Attendance at discipline specific referees course.
You must be a member of the CPSA to purchase this course
