Bobby Watkins
Membership Development Officer (email bobby@cpsa.co.uk)
Living in South Africa since birth, my working career started when I joined the South African Police Force in which I served for 20 years. During this time I reached the rank of Captain – a Commissioned Officer Position.
During this time I gained my passion for the sport of target shooting – mainly rifle. On leaving the Police Force I moved into the commercial world and started my own business as a labour broker which provided resources to the construction industry.
It was after holidaying in the UK that I fell in love with this country and decided to emigrate here, to Chester, and made it my home. I initially started a retail business in the town, and then moved into Manufacturing after 3 years, as a Shift Manager in the baking industry.
However, when the opportunity arose to join the CPSA team as the Membership Development Co-ordinator, it rekindled my passion for shooting sports, and also gives me the opportunity to travel throughout the country meeting and promoting our sport to our clubs and members.
What is clay shooting?
Clay pigeon shooting is the art of shooting at special flying targets, known as clay pigeons or clay targets, with a shotgun.
