We’re excited to announce a new collaboration between the CPSA and Aimpoint, giving members with eye dominance challenges the chance to try the Acro S2 and Micro S-1 red-dot sights under a carefully managed trial period throughout 2026-2027.
This initiative is about supporting our members, while safeguarding the integrity of CPSA competitions.
Why This Matters
Eye dominance issues affect many shooters and can make consistent shooting difficult. We want to make sure that those with eye dominance conditions have access to every possible tool to enjoy and progress in our sport. Current aids don’t always work for everyone. Aimpoint’s Acro S2 units offer an alternative: providing a visual reference point without altering the fundamentals of clay shooting.
What is the Acro S-2?
‘The Aimpoint® Acro™ S-2 is a compact red-dot sight built for versatility and precision. It mounts on most ventilated shotgun ribs, with a low 15 mm optical axis for correct gun alignment. The red dot simplifies lead visualization, helping shooters refine their swing and positioning. Lightweight and unobtrusive, the Acro S-2 provides a clear sight picture for sporting clays, giving shooters confidence and consistency on every shot.’
*The Micro S-1 will also be permitted in this trial program.
How the Trial Works
To take part, members must:
The CPSA will monitor data from registered participants across the year to assess whether the technology provides any unfair advantage. The CPSA Board will then review the findings within 18 months - 2 years.
What Aimpoint Are Providing
Safeguarding Competition Integrity
The 2026-2027 program is a trial only period, designed to give members with eye dominance challenges access to new technology while protecting the fairness of competition for all shooters. At the end of the trial, the CPSA Board will review data and feedback before making any long-term decisions.
